Six persons injured in leopard attack in Duliajan

Duliajan, April 20: Sensation prevailed at Madhuting Tea-Estate following the attack on six persons, including a CRPF jawan, by a full-grown leopard. Tthe incident took place on Monday morning when tea workers were plucking tea leaves in the Madhuting Tea-Estate.

The injuired persons have been identified as Dilip Fauda, Kiron Urang, Basanta Urang, Jiten Kalindi, Juli Kharia and CRPF jawan A K Midya. According to sources, when the workers of Madhuting Tea-Estate were plucking tea leaves, they suddenly spotted the full-grown leopard. They raised a hue and cry and then the leopard attacked six persons. Local people immediately rushed them to AMCH, Dibrugarh and the CRPF sent AK Midya to the tea estate’s hospital for primary treatment. A team of forest officials under Digboi forest subdivision rushed to site but due to non-availability of tranquilizer they could not catch the leopard. Sources said that an expert team from Kaziranga forest department was on its way to capture the leopard.
