Six shops looted in Jorhat

JORHAT: At least six different shops, including a pharmacy, were looted of cash and valuables in the area between Na-Ali Rail gate to Na-Ali Bongal Pukhuri beside Na-Ali road which is under Jorhat Police Station. The thefts were likely to have been conducted between 3 am to 5 am by a six-member gang of burglars.

Four members of the gang were arrested on last Monday by a team of Jorhat Police Station and all four were sent to Jorhat Central jail on Wednesday. Local people have complained against the slow investigation by the Lichubari Outpost in-charge and have also expressed concern about their safety and security, said Pradip Sharma, a member of the Lichubari Bazar Committee.
