Sixth issue of Friends magazine released

Guwahati, January 13: Kaziranga University released the 6th issue of Friends magazine at its campus in Jorhat recently. Friends, is a globally published magazine, a medium for non–residents, hailing from diverse parts of the north–eastern States in India, to stimulate, motivate, inspire and guide the upcoming students and youths of this region. The non–resident experts and professiols from diverse backgrounds, having roots in the region, have deliberated various education and career related issues in this magazine with their first–hand experiences, stated a press release.

The magazine has been published every year since 2009 and this year’s issue is a compilation of the success stories of residents and non–residents who have made their mark, winning awards and recognition and who have successfully contributed to their motherland. The book was officially launched by Dr. Pradip Sharma, Executive Director– Centre for Rural Development, Basant Khetan, Pro–Chancellor– Kaziranga University and Dr. Prashanta Kumar Mishra, President–North Eastern Knowledge Foundation in the presence of eminent persons from the academia, industry, students and media persons.

The release event included the appearance of Astrout E. Michael ‘Mike’ Fincke, who participated virtually from the SA (tiol Aeroutics and Space Administration) Space centre at Houston through video conferencing. During the event, Mike interacted virtually with participating students and faculty and shared valuable information and his experiences. The presence of Mike during the event greatly inspired the participating teachers and students of the university and few other colleges and schools who took part in the event.
