SK oil shortage: KHM writes to Modi

SHILLONG, Nov 15: The Khun Hynniewtrep tiol Awakening Movement (KHM), Youth Wing today has sent a letter to Prime Minister rendra Modi with regards to the grievances on the shortfall of supply of SK Oil through Public Distribution System (PDS). The KHM state youth wing in the letter stated that kerosene is one of the essential Commodities supplied to the BPL families in the State through the Public Distribution System which is allocated by the central government at affordable price.  Informing that in 2014 a total of 6,492 KL of allocation have been made by the government of India through the Indian Oil Corporation, Thomas Passah, KHM youth wing president said, “S.K Oil have been one of the major source of cooking in major parts of the state of Meghalaya but recent decrease in the supply of S.K Oil through PDS have affected a large number of families in the state.”

The KHM State Youth Wing has met the Joint Director of Supply, Government of Meghalaya, to seek clarification on the reason for shortfall of supply.

During the meeting its was informed to them that central government have decrease the quantity of supply of S.K Oil to the State, hampering the distribution system for the past few months.

He said, “It was also informed that the government has communicated a leakage of 70 percent of S.K Oil in the state, which could be one of the reasons for shortfall of allocation.”
