Skill development training conducted to empower women

Tezpur, May 5: In order to develop skills and build entrepreneurship amongst women of the country in general and Army in particular, the Gajraj Corps, Tezpur successfully conducted skill development training of the second batch wherein, 45 trainees completed training at Army Skill Training Centre (ASTC) and were awarded skill certificate at a ceremony held on Saturday as part of Aajevika and Kaushal Vikas Divas, thereby highlighting the efforts of the Army in promoting the existing skill set of women through employment by skill development.
 Amanpreet Kaur Sangha, zonal president  AWWA, Gajraj Corps presented the certificates to successful candidates in two job skills- Sewing Machine Operator and Assistant Beauty Therapist. The skill courses at ASTCs of Indian Army are conducted under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY).
 Erstwhile vocational training centres have been upgraded as part of the initiative by Directorate of Indian Army Veterans (DIAV) and Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship to empower Army and Ex-Servicemen’s spouses, wards and widows to enhance their skills and become an integral part of the nation’s skilled human resource.
