Skill youth initiative launched

SHILLONG, Jan 7: The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya is all set to launch “Community College” to impart skill development courses to youths of North East to improve professiol skills and employability, a press release said. This programme will be implemented under the project “SKILL YOUTH - SKILL INDIA” initiative of the USTM. The scheme will become operatiol from June 2016.Under the programme, short term certificate/diploma courses will be conducted to train youths in various job oriented skill development programmes both traditiol and modern under various Schools of USTM so that after the skill development they can be gainfully employed. Initially Certificate/Diploma courses of three to six month duration will be conducted in the in as many as 54 identified courses (as in Annexure I) with a target to train 1000 youths in 2016-17 out of which 50% students will be given training free of cost. The fees shall be Rs. 1000/- for each course.
