SHILLONG, June 21: A conglomerate body of traditiol chiefs and village headmen from Jaintia Hills region has moved the Governor seeking his consent on the Village Administration Bill passed by the JHADC. They were of the opinion that the Governor should not wait for the bill of the KHADC, which is pending re-examition. The Synjuk Ki Rangbah Shnong Ri Jaintia (SKRSRJ) recently submitted a memorandum to the Governor V Shanmugathan for his consideration on the matter. SKRSRJ general secretary A Lipon, in the letter to the Governor, said, "We would like to urge the Governor to give his assent on the bill of the JHADC 'separately' without waiting for the bill of the KHADC since the two bills has no connection with each other".

According to him, the VAB of the KHADC has been opposed by the opposition All Regiol Parties Alliance (ARPA) and others due to deletion of sub sections 8 and 16 of Section 5 from the origil bill.

Lipon also informed that the JHADC VAB was unimously passed by the council without any objection from any quarter.

"Hence, it is justified and deserves assent by his Excellency, the Governor," he said.
