Dibrugarh, August 25: The prices of essential commodities like onion have sky rocketed with onion being sold out at Rs 70 per kg as per today’s market price. But nothing has been done by the district administration or government in this regard which has overburdened the common man. Several reasons may be attributed for this scerio.  Devaluation of rupee and inflation are basically the main issues behind price rise but the role of the wholesalers and retailers, who play a huge role in deciding the actual price of any food item, cannot be denied. Rising prices and inflation that were the core reasons for the previous government’s defeat, seem to be matters of election propaganda as still now these issues exist. However, voices are not seen to be raised neither protests are being staged to urge upon the ruling government to take proper steps in this regard.
