Slain person identified as dreaded crimil

From our Correspondent
TINSUKIA, April 19: The identity of the person who was killed by 7 Madras Regiment at DirakCharali on Tuesday has been established as Ranjit Gogoi (43), husband of Rekhamoni Gogoi hailing from Ramanibam mrup in Dibrugarh district. The slain person was carrying a stolen driving license of one Pulin Dutta of Jorhat which created confusion about his exact identity. Though claimed to be a hardcore ULFA (I) militant, Ranjit Gogoi was a dreaded crimil involved in kidpping, several murders, extortion, car lifting and Teju jail break in Aruchal Pradesh, informed Mugdha Jyoti Dev Mahanta, Tinsukia Superintendent of Police.  Gogoi’s body was handed over to family members after post-mortem.
