Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, June 27: Dibrugarh police are now pinpointing the linkmen involved in the cash-for-job scam in the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC), besides establishing links between the accused APSC members and officers now in jail.

With the face-to-face grilling of the accused in the scam with former APSC chairman Rakesh Paul currently going on at Guwahati Central Jail, the investigators are zeroing in on the linkmen involved in the scam. They are also trying to establish links between the accused ACS and APS officers and the former APSC chairman. With around 500 answer sheets set to come from forensic science laboratories shortly, the investigators believe that there will be more arrests. They are gathering evidences of involvement of more suspects in the scam.

Meanwhile, talking to The Sentinel, Dibrugarh Additional Superintendent of Police Surjeet Singh Panesar said: “The investigation is going on as per law and evidence. It’s on right track. So far, as many as five additional charge-sheets have been submitted to the court, besides the main charge-sheet. The investigation is gaining pace day by day.”
