SHILLONG, Sept 7: Shillong Lajong FC edged Laitumkhrah SCC by one goal to secure all three points for the second consecutive time in the ongoing Shillong Premier League held at JN Stadium today.

The first half saw the young Reds domite the overall play with some good football all-round the ground. The players played some beautiful football throughout the first half with lots of passes.

Laitumkhrah players were uble to play their usual game as their attempts to go forward were continuously intercepted by Lajong defenders. The Reds however could have taken the lead in the 37th minute when Bipin Singh took a shot from outside the box which unfortutely struck the cross bar.

It was Bipin again just before half time who had another chance to break the dead lock when his powerful shot was fumbled by the keeper and it seemed to have gone in but the referee ruled out the goal. Even though Lajong had numerous opportunities, the first half ended with no goals scored.

Laitumkhrah came out with more conviction in the second half and started to trouble the Lajong defense. The game opened up more as chances were missed on either ends. It was until the 75th minute when Jacob Lalrawngbawla opened the score sheet with a beautiful free kick from 35 yards into the near post corner of the goal.

However minutes later, Lajong’s midfielder Ksankupar, received a straight red card after allegedly handling the ball in the opponents box.

Laitumkhrah started to have a lot of chances in front of goal but they lacked the finishing touch. The Reds defended really well right to the fil whistle and emerged victorious.
