Slur on media persons: NIT says sorry
From our correspondent
Itagar, Oct 25: tiol Institute of Technology (NIT) Assistant Registrar Taba Tadhe and Assistant Professor Dr Swarnendu Kumar Chakraborty on Tuesday apologized to the media persons for the purported audio clip, wherein they had accused reporters of demanding money to write in favour of the administration.
The media fraternity took cognizance of the allegation made in the clip and conducted an interl inquiry. After finding the allegations to be frivolous, they lodged an FIR against the duo at Doimukh Police Station. Following the complaint, the NIT officials contacted the Aruchal Press Club (APC), Aruchal Pradesh Union of Working Jourlists and Aruchal Electronic Media Association to clarify their position. Accordingly, a meeting was conducted at APC between NIT officials and members of the press fraternity, where the officials clarified that no media person ever approached them for money.
“We would like to make it clear to everyone that no media person contacted us and we also did not contact them to publish or broadcast news in our favour. We apologize and seek forgiveness for unintentiol statements made against the media fraternity,” the duo stated in a joint statement.
The audio clip, supposedly containing the allegation against media persons and credited to Tadhe and Chakraborty, was widely circulated in social media earlier this month.
