Smart City conclave in Guwahati today

Guwahati, July 3: The Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) is organizing a conference  on “100 Smart Cities” on July 4  at Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok in Guwahati. The theme of the conference is “Need for Innovative and Integrated Approach”

The Prime Minister’s vision to set up 100 smart cities in India and earmark an outlay of Rs 7,060 cr for the project in its first budget shows the keenness of the government to seriously implement the project in Indian cities and towns. Countries like Singapore, France, Japan and Britain have already given offers to develop cities. .

The Northeastern Region of India needs special mention as it shares it’s border to as many as five neighbouring countries Bangladesh, Bhutan, Chi, Myanmar and Nepal, it is in fact, the gateway to the South East Asia. Building North East into a technology friendly city with state-of-the-art roads, buildings, bridges would eble NE to have efficient services, maintain low carbon footprint and create an entrepreneurial environment for its citizens.

With this background, ICC is organizing “North East Smart City Conclave” which would serve as an important platform to bring forth the investment and growth opportunities in the smart city model and link up the stake holders for the purpose of business development. This was stated in a press release.
