'Smaswan Bandhu' Likeshawar Chutia felicitated

JOYSAGAR, Oct 10: Renowned social and cultural organization of Sivasagar town, Swaprupa on Tuesday felicitated a social worker of Phukan gar, Sivasagar, Likeshawar Chutia. Likeshawar Chutia is known in Sivasagar as ‘Smaswan Bandhu’ as he has cremated around 465 people in more than three decades.

Swaprupa, the socio-cultural NGO of Sivasagar, organized a formal meeting in their Dikhowpar office and observed the NGO’s ninth anniversary. The function was hosted by the NGO’s vice-president Deepali Sarmah while president of the NGO, Saurav Gohain  presided over the meeting. In this function, social worker Likeshawar Chutia was formally felicitated with xarai, seleng chadar, gamusa, Bhagawad Gita, japi, umbrella and a letter of appreciation for his great contribution to the society.

The title ‘Smaswan  Bandhu’ was also formally dedicated to him by the president of Swaprupa, Saurav Gohain. Hundreds of people from different walks of life were present on the occasion. AASU, Dikhoepar unit secretary, Pradip Gogoi appreciated the step taken by the NGO and urged people to follow the path of the social worker.
