SMB faces flak for poor garbage disposal

SILCHAR, Jan 31: The Silchar Municipal Board (SMB) which has the responsibility to dispose of the garbage and refuses meets with noncooperation from the civilians for its irresponsible attitude. It is true the Board presses into services its mechanized vehicles to clean the dustbins meant for disposal of garbage, but its sincere effort to keep the town neat and clean fails. It is seen after the removal of the accumulated garbage; particularly Ukilpatty area of this town, people throws all the wastes and refuses around.

In the meantime, the dustbin placed on the fixed spot has been removed and it allows people to litter the place around the specified spot with all sorts of refuses. It becomes difficult for the passersby as well as users of the road through Ukilpatty to make their way due to the very unhealthy and unhygienic condition. As seen in the photograph, stray cows gather around and chew the substances from the garbage of their choice. Even, poor people are seen scavenging to salvage whatever worth they think is to be collected. This process to clean and spoil continues with no remedy in sight.
