SMB's 'anti-public' stand creates resentment

 From a Correspondent

Joysagar, March 10: The ‘anti-public’ stand of the Sivasagar Municipal Board (SMB) recently has created much dissatisfaction among the citizens. The SMB has been allegedly overlooking the sufferings of the residents of wards no-13 and 14 and also the people of the greater Darikapar area, wjan Gaon area, Station Chariali area and a part of the Khatapathar and Betbari Alimur areas. The SMB has been using these residential areas as dumping ground for garbage collected from the town.
The local residents now have to live in an unhealthy atmosphere with bad odour. Moreover, due to the garbage, the nearby Dwarika River is being polluted but the SMB authorities have allegedly not taken any steps to address the grievances of the people and to protect the river from pollution. Sivasagar garik Mancha and Sivasagar Brihattar Axomiya Yuba Mancha representatives filly submitted a writ petition to the Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner on Saturday and urged the district administration to take appropriate action in this regard.
