SMSS demands release of Akhil Gogoi

GOLAGHAT (Dhekial), October 3: The activists of Satra Mukti Sangram Samity (SMSS) Golaghat district committee, burnt the effigy of Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal on Sunday at Batapoint in Golaghat, protesting against the arrest of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samity (KMSS) leader Akhil Gogoi and to demand his release without any terms and conditions.   

The activist of SMSS shouted various slogans against the Sarbanda Sonowal-led State Government. They slammed the role of the State Government in the arrest of Akhil Gogoi.

The protest was led by SMSS general secretary Bidyut Saikia. Addressing the gathering, Saikia said, “The BJP-led State Government plays commul politics. They want to divide the people of Assam into Hindus and Muslims.”

Further, he said that the people of Bandardubi and Deuchurchang were not illegal encroachers as they had legal land allotment pattas. KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi had protested demanding compensation before evicting the villagers. The SMSS demanded release of Akhil Gogoi immediately.
