SMSS leaders 'beaten' up by police

GOLAGHAT (Dhekial), Dec 19: As many as four Satra Mukti Sangram Samiti (SMSS) leaders were admitted in the hospital for injuries they sustained after they were allegedly beaten up when they had come to the office of the Deputy Commissioner for seeking permission for staging a democratic protest on Wednesday.

 According to report, SMSS central committee general secretary Bidyut Saikia, assistant secretary Debabrat Saikia, Golaghat district committee president Mril th and Hirok Jyoti Saikia were immediately admitted in Swahid Kushal Konwar Civil Hospital after they sustained injuries by in an unfortute attack by the police force led by DSP Partha Protim Saikia.

Bidyut Saikia alleged, “We had gone to the DC office for seeking permission for staging a democratic protest against the barbaric shootout incident on poor labourers of Bogidhola TE by the owner of the garden Sudhir Roy and Samri Roy. But the authority concerned ignored our request and this was informed to media persons near the Deputy Commissioner’s office. At that time, a police force led by DSP Partha Protim Saikia started beating up the SMSS leaders.”
