MANGALDAI, May 5: The Dhula Police in Darrang district on Friday recovered smuggled timber worth Rs 4 lakh from a truck which met with an accident on NH-15. The smuggled timber-laden truck bearing registration number NL 03 A 4470 was parked on NH-15 near Dhula. A speeding vehicle hit it causing damage to the truck. Though the driver and the handyman of the truck immediately fled away from the spot, the police seized the vehicle along with the timber and handed these over to the forest department.
