Smuggled timber seized

JOYSAGAR, June 4: Sivasagar Divisional Forest Department sleuths, with the help of Sivasagar Police, seized some smuggled timber during a sudden operation conducted in the NH-37 here and also seized two trucks used for carrying the timbers on Sunday night. The trucks allegedly carrying smuggled timber were coming from Tinsukia to Mariyani and in NH-37, forest and police security personnel seized these trucks (AS-01-GC-6763 and AS-04-GC-2521) during routine checking. The value of the seized timber is around Rs 38 lakh, sources revealed. The drivers of the trucks have been booked in connection with this case.
