Smugglers using Simsang river as 'route'

SHILLONG, Sept 1: Notwithstanding the NGT order banning the transportation of coal without payment of royalty, smugglers continue to use different methods to smuggle coal to Bangladesh. Troops of 132 Bn BSF deployed at Baghmara, South Garo Hills district seized coal worth Rs 1.5 lakhs, 24.31 Cft wooden logs, 250Nos bamboo while being smuggled out from India to Bangladesh through Simsang river.
