SHILLONG, Feb 2: Expressing concern over the growing problems in the State, the Synjuk Ki Nongsynshar Shnong Ka Bri u Hynniewtrep (SNSBH) Ri Khasi Jaintia has advised the state government to scrap the notification of the Rule 20 (b) of the Meghalaya Conduct (Service) Rules, 1990, which barred Government servants from holding office under the Dorbar Shnong or any organization.

RL Blah, general secretary of SNSBH in a statement released here said, “There have been many issues which have brought mass concern all over the State, especially for those under government service.”

He observed that the Meghalaya State Government Employees’ Federation (MSGEF) has also expressed deep concerned over the recent amendment.

“Taking into consideration, the aspirations of the people of the state, the government would soon rectify the above predicaments,” it said.

According to the Synjuk, the introduction of Rule 20 (b) of the Meghalaya Conduct (Service) Rules, 1990 is a despicable move on the part of the State Government and such an act will ultimately destroy the sacrosanctity of the Traditiol Institutions.

Blah said, “The rule has caused great hardships to the office bearers of the Traditiol Institution, especially in the rural areas who are either illiterate or semi-literate.”

The Synjuk felt that the recent ruling of the Meghalaya High Court to include Traditiol Institutions under the purview of the State Government has come as a rude shock especially at a time when there is major outcry to leave the traditiol Institutions under the delegation of their respective Autonomous District Councils.
