SNSBH expresses concern over rape of minors

SHILLONG, Jan 9: The umbrella of headmen’s body in the state “Synjuk Ki Nongsynshar Shnong ka Bri U Hynniewtrep” (SNSBH) has expressed concern over the incidents of rape of minors.

“These incidents especially, the cases of rape in Shillong city and Mawryngkneng have shamed the community,” general secretary of the headmen’s body RL Blah said.

At the same time, the Synjuk Ki Nongsynshar Shnong ka Bri U Hynniewtrep said it was distressed at the issue of trafficking of young girls which has seen a spurt in the last few years. The SNSBH also urged the authorities concerned to work overtime to stop such illegal activities and punish those who are involved in such cases.

The headmen’s body also urged the Dorbar Shnong to work together with the law enforcing agencies to root out such illegal activities which according to it is a blot on the community.
