Social activist passes away

MANGALDAI, Jan 9: Dhirendra Saikia (76), retired Principal of Mangaldai Town Girls’ Higher Secondary School and a social activist of Bhebarghat, ward no-10 of Mangaldai town, breathed his last on Monday morning while undergoing treatment in a private hospital after being admitted following a cardiac arrest on Sunday. For quite a long period he had rendered his service with devotion at Kalaigaon HS School in Udalguri district as teacher in Science. Saikia was respected and loved by not only by his students but people from all walks of life for his simplicity  and amiable ture. He was associated with the Paschim Mangaldai Kristi Sanggha and Mangaldai town branch of Srimanta Sankardev Sanggha.  His death has been widely mourned in Mangaldai town. He leaves behind his wife, two sons and daughter along with a host of relatives, friends and well wishers.
