Social activist passes away

JORHAT, Dec 13: Binda Baruah, the former president and secretary of Jorhat Xahitya Xabha, story writer, columnist and social activist, passed away at his Rajamaidum residence due to cardiac arrest. He was 77. He leaves behind his wife and a son. His body was taken to the Axam Xahitya Xabha Bhavan where hundreds of well-wishers, friends and members from various social organizations, including AASU, AJYCP, Lawyers Association, Lekhika Samorah and Upper Assam Chambers of Commerce paid their last respect to the departed soul. His last rites were performed at the Tarajan crematorium in presence of a large gathering.
