Social worker Surya Kanta Gogoi remembered at Missamari on the occasion of his first death anniversary

Biswanath Chariali, July 24: A memorial meet was held on Sunday at Missamari, Halem in fond memory of social worker and teacher Surya Kanta Gogoi under the aegis of Ananda Chandra Agarwala Junior College and Bhangani Konwar Sahitya Sabha on the occasion of his first death anniversary.

The meet was chaired by Khagen Khound while it was conducted by Arup Rajkhowa, general secretary of Bhangani Konwar Sahitya Sabha. A good number of speakers, including Sidheswar Hazarika, Dilip Sharma, Kalpana Mahanta and Suramani Dahal highlighted the life and works of Gogoi. A souvenir Suryanjali, edited by Arup Rajkhowa, was released by Dr Nityananda Gogoi, former Principal of Biswanath College, while a bust was unveiled by Makarlal Ghimire, retired teacher of Swahid Mukunda Kakati High School, Halem. Earlier, the welcome address was delivered by Anima Sharma Gogoi.
