‘Society cannot develop without cooperation from women’

DHEKIAJULI, March 21:  Under the aegis of Sonitpur district committee of All Assam Adivasi  Women’s Association,  the 5th annual Women’s  Day   was observed at the  Loko yak Omio Kumar Das High School premises of Julia tea estate recently.
To observe the two-day programme, a celebration committee was formed with  Mery Surin and Basanti Topno as the presidents, Sulekha th and Basanti Kullu as the secretaries, Bharati Sahu as the organizatiol  secretary  and Sumitra Kerketta as vice-president.  The meeting addressed the burning problems of women in present day society. Several speakers urged upon the State Government to make special arrangement for the uplift of women.
Participating in the women’s day programme, former deputy speaker and ACMS Borsola branch secretary Bhima nda Tanti said, “Women are the mirror of the society and without the active cooperation of women, society cannot develop. Hence, ACMS Borsola branch is continuously working for solving the day-to-day problems of women, especially those from  the tea belt areas.”   Various cultural programmes were held to mark the occasion.
