Society for Srimanta Sankaradeva participates in Make in India Week

gaon, Feb 16: Society for Srimanta Sankaradeva, the intertiol organization engaged in promoting Sankaradeva legacy is taking part in the first ever ‘Make in India Week’ organized by Government of India in Mumbai from  February 13.

A seven-member team is displaying production of Aharya of Ankiya Bhao there. Society for Srimanta Sankaradeva has

had collaboration with Sangeet tak Akademi for this. Theirs is the only team from Assam. Govt of India selected them for participation in this intertiol event where 60 countries have joined.

Society for Srimanta Sankaradeva members have displayed different Aharya items and showed the production process right in the exhibition.

The team of Society for Srimanta Sankaradeva is led by Mridu Moucham Bora, a costume expert and Secretary of the Society.

While Prime Minister rendra Modi iugurated the main event, Governor of Maharashtra Vidyasagar Rao iugurated the cultural section of the exhibition, where the Assam stall is situated. The Society members felicitated the Governor during his visit to the stall with Gamocha and a mask.

Several thousand visitors have been to the stall of Society for Srimanta Sankaradeva. Some exporters also have shown interest in exporting Aharya items. Jewellery, mask, costume etc have drawn attention of the crowd.

It may be mentioned that the Society has already started an Aharya production unit at Dhing. The Aharya produced by Society is recommended by Sangeet tak Akademi as

accurate and many organisations now use these. Last year a 45 day workshop was conducted by the Society to train youths in Aharya production.
