The president and general secretary of Golaghat Regional Committee Angsuman Baruah and Biswajit Gogoi said that people of Golaghat town have been suffering a lot due to irregular supply of drinking water in town area since several days. The AASU leaders also said that a few days back Golaghat unit of AASU had staged a protest demonstration against the municipality board for failing to provide pure drinking water to public and had also intimated this matter to concerned authority several times earlier. But they allege that nothing was done to solve the problem. Through  the memorandum they demanded  that the district administration should make arrangement for free water service until the crisis is solved. They have also threatened to launch a massive protest in case the district administration fails to meet their demand.
