Son kills mother, attacks police officer

Golaghat, Feb 13: Sensation prevailed at Puspaban area under Merapani Police Station in Golaghat on Sunday evening after a son killed his mother.  Debojit Bora (35), a resident of No.2 Puspaban area in Merapani subdivision, had a quarrel with his wife. When his mother Numali Bora (55) tried to stop the fight between Debojit and his wife, Debojit in a fit of rage allegedly attacked his mother with a sharp weapon and Numali Bora died on the spot. Debojit was so angry that he had attacked some neighbours also. A team of Merapani police rushed to the spot and tried to apprehend him. He again attacked the police team and Officer in-charge of Merapani Police Station, Padmakanta Das sustained serious injuries. Later, Debojit was filly taken into custody.
