Soneswar clinches triple crown

GUWAHATI, April 27: Oil India Limited won six medals in the recently concluded XXXV Inter Unit Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) Table Tennis meet which was held at Indore. Among the six medals, three are gold and remaining three are bronze. Soneswar Deka bagged triple crown in the championship winning gold medals in Veteran's singles, doubles and in the team event. In the singles Soneswar defeated LB Thakare of ONGC by 3-0. He won doubles title, pairing with Gautam Hazarika, also by identical margin against R Saxe and LB Thakare of ONGC. In the team event, OIL was represented by Soneswar Deka, Gautam Hazarika, Tridib Duvarah and Agadh Medhi. The bronze medals were won by Gautam Hazarika in veteran's singles, Birdie Boro and Subhajit Saha in men's doubles along with Mouma Das and ndita Saha in women's singles.
