Song of the Soil folk music reality show concludes

KOKRAJHAR, March 5: The grand file of Song of the Soil, a folk music reality show- cum-music competition on Bodo and Goalpara folk songs organized by All India Radio, Kokrajhar,  was held on Sunday at Kokrajhar Commerce College auditorium hall. Debendra th Basumatary, adviser and former Additiol Director General of All India Radio and Doordarshan for Northeast, formally iugurated the grand file by lighting the iugural lamp in presence of dignitaries, artistes and music lovers.
Assistant Director, AIR Guwahati, Rajib Baruah, Bodo Sahitya Sabha president Toren Boro, All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) general secretary Lawrence Islary, Director Engineer of AIR, Kokrajhar, Akilash Prasad Singh and Chakradhar Boro, ADP, AIR, Kokrajhar were among those present on the occasion. The reality show had started on May 30, 2017.
In his speech, Debendra th Basumatary said that the main objectives of the reality show by the All India Radio was to promote the folk songs of Assam, especially among the youth, and also to promote the untapped musical talent of the State. He expressed hope that the rich folk songs in Assam would reach out to the listeners, especially the younger generation. He also said efforts were on way to uplift and upgrade AIR Kokrajhar.
