Sonowal iugurates Indigenous Games Festival

GUWAHATI, April 10: Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal iugurated the Assam Indigenous Games Festival 2018 at a function held at Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phookan Indoor Stadium today. The Festival was organized by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Welfare.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Sonowal said, “It has been one of the endeavours of the present State government to promote the sports which are very close to our socio-cultural life. It is one of the guiding forces for the government to have organised Assam Indigenous Games Festival 2018 to give due exposure to our sporting talents who are otherwise remain away from the spotlight”.

More than nine hundred players from 33 districts will participated in the Indigenous Games Festival 2018.

Minister of State for Sports and Youth Welfare ba Kumar Doley who also spoke on the occasion gave a brief over view of all the schemes that the State government has taken so far in the last 22 months in Assam. He also sought the cooperation of people from all walks of life to make Indigenous Games Festival 2018 successful.
