Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal visits erosion-affected Gohpur, Buroighat

Biswanath Chariali/Gohpur, July 11: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal visited the erosion-affected areas in Gohpur subdivision in Biswanath district on Wednesday afternoon. He visited Buroighat on the bank of the Buroi river under Halem Revenue Circle and Chatrang at Gohpur. The Chief Minister assured all possible help to the affected people who had lost their land and properties in the ongoing erosion of the rivers Buroi and Chatrang. He also said that he had instructed the government departments concerned to take quick action in this respect.

Sonowal interacted with inmates of the flood relief camp at Buroighat LP School. He met Dineswar Nath, a model farmer of Buroni Pathar as part of Janasamparka Abhiyaan. Sonowal also handed over a cheque of Rs. 4 lakh as ex-gratia to Bhadra Borah, father of Dipankar Borah who drowned in the recent flood. The Chief Minister was accompanied by Minister for Water Resources, Keshav Mahanta, Minister for Handloom and Textile, Ranjit Dutta, Gohpur MLA Utpal Borah and others.
