Sopur mishap: Victims identified

GUWAHATI, June 18:  The Assam Police headquarters has issued the list of injured and identified bodies in connection with the accident at Sopur on June 14, 2016, leading to the death of 25 people and injury to nine others.

The fatal accident occurred when a Guwahati-bound Arhan Travels bus (AS-01-EC-7494) from Silchar skidded into a deep gorge on NH-44.

The nine injured have been identified as (1) Dilip Kumar (22), son of Guru Dayal of village Hajithpur under Katalagaon police station in Raibarli district in UP, (2) Inder Kumar Singh (17), son of Chanda S Singh of village Subdarpur under Kuj police station in Kumar Babu district in Bihar, (3) Yuvraj Banya (30), son of  K Banya of village Motbong under Saparmai district police station in Sipati district in Manipur, (4) Sabur Ali, son of Chitol of Amingaon under Jhalukbari police station in Kamrup district in Assam, (5) Rajib NR Deuri (34) of Punjab, (6) Sonu Singh (19), son of Raj Bir Singh of village Borili under Bostin police station in  Dholpur district in Rajasthan (34 Bn CRPF, Tripura), (7) Sipanul Haque Mazumder (18), son of Anor Uddin of village Baskandi under Lakhipur police station in Cachar district in Assam, (8) Sunil Kumar, son of Subas Prasad of village Bhagaon under Jhanish police station in Dhanbad district in Jharkhand and (9) Hari Singh Rathore (25) of Rajasthan.

The bodies have been identified as those of (1)Pan Das (29), son of Niharanjan Das of Karmadha village under Katalagaon police station in Assam, (2) Rup Jyoti Deka, son of Lakshmi Neog Borah of Christian Basti in Guwahati in Assam, (3) Sunil Sharma, son of Badhroi Sharma of Saipur under Bhidore police station in J & K,  (4) Amol Sutradhar, son of Sunil Sutradhar of Colony Bazar, Kahilipara under Fatashil (Ambari), police station in Kamrup district in Assam, (5) Mun Kumar Yadav, son of Dharmendar Yadav of Simia Rolingiamchapra in Som district in Bihar, (6) Binoy Kumar, son of Late Krish Singh of Kabilgar Colony under Bilapur  Durga Ghan Bhiramari, (7) Ti Thabasi, son of Late Ba Thangaraj of Peroor village under Musiri police station in Trishey district in Tamil du, (8) Jumni Brahma, son of Late Saulala Brahma of village Malapuri under Gossaigaon police station in Assam, (9) Radhya Shyam Singh, son of Romadhar Singh of Pacharpur under Bucharpur police station in Kalipur district un UP, (10) Abur Hussain Barbhuya, son of Azizur Rahman Barbhuya of Houraithang, (11) Projut Burman, son of Late Maha Burman of Lautugram village under Dhalai police station in Cachar district in Assam, (12) Ashit kumar Dev, son of Anil Cha Dev of village Banglaghat under Tarapur police station in Cachar district in Assam, (13) Raj Kumar Patel, son of Late Kamahai Lal Patel of Shishu village under Silchar police station in Assam, (14) Bimal Roy, son of Birindo Roy of Karmadhu village in Karimganj district in Assam, (15) Anil Dev th, son of Liam udalal Dev th of Lakhimpur under Dharmagar in Tripura, (16) Achinto Banerjee (48), son of Gaur Chandra Banerjee of village Kopithpur under Dhonia Kali police station in Kolkata, Hoogly, (17) Abdul Sukur Laskar, son of Late Haji Jahar Uddin Laskar of Tarapur, Ram gar, Cachar, Assam, (18) Pradip Saikia, son of Kamal Saikia of  Karoga Hayarigaon under Simara police station in Jorhat district in Assam, (19) Mahendra Rai, son of Ram S Rai of Taraon sirgaon in Rohtar district in Bihar and (20) Satyam Das (34), son of Late Sudhir Das of Notun Bazar under Dhalai police station in Cachar district in Assam.

Five of the bodies are yet to be identified.
