SHILLONG, May 18: The Sordar of Mawlong, Mairang Jonesman L Mawlong today termed the allegations directed at him by Donboklang Lyngdoh Mawlong in connection with the distribution of Public Distribution System (PDS) ration to the residents of Mawlong as baseless.
Addressing newsmen in the city, the Sordar admitted that the distribution of the ration has not been up to the required quantity owing to shortage of supply.
It may be mentioned that Donboklang recently claimed that he was brutally beaten up by the Officer Incharge (OC) of Mairang police station for unknown reasons after he tried to assist a 20-year-old girl who was beaten by some people at Mawlong.
“The claims made by Donbok that a girl was beaten up by some individuals at Mawlong are speculative because no such incident occured at Mawlong that day,” he said adding that the only thing which happed on that day was some quarrel among a few women folks over a land dispute which was settled and nothing major happened.
He said that the reason Donboklang was beaten up at the police station was because of the fact that he went to the police station under the influence of alcohol and misbehaved with the police.
According to him, members of the HANM Mairang Unit also went to inquire about the incident at the police station but later refused to take any responsibility after they learnt that it was Donboklang faults and he was drunk.
He alleged that Donboklang had demanded a ransom of Rs 50,000 from the Dorbar of Mawlong for all the expenses he had incurred in filing RTI etc.
