SPC celebrates closing ceremony of Silver Jubilee

SIVASAGAR, April 8: The Sibsagar Press Club (SPC) celebrated its closing ceremony of silver jubilee anniversary here at Yuva Dol, which was attended by a host of present and past jourlists and also by members of the galand Press Association (NPA). The Sibsagar Press Club, which was formed in the year 1993, is one of the most versatile press clubs in Assam, which is actively involved in various literary, social and awareness programmes, every year. The SPC started its silver jubilee celebrations on January 2017 and for the whole year the club had celebrated its jubilee by organizing various program. NPA president, K Temjen Jamir, who is also the editor of Tir Yimyim, an Ao language daily, was the chief guest on the occasion. He was accompanied by a team of NPA members from Kohima, Dimapur and Mokokchung districts.

The NPA president, K Temjen Jamir, while congratulating the SPC for achieving a great milestone in attaining its 25th anniversary since inception, said that Assam has a large number of media personnel who have been contributing a lot to the uplift of the society and building public opinion. He pointed out that the press as the Fourth Pillar in a democratic set-up has the bounden duty to discharge their duties for building the society and tion. He said that the press clubs are the platforms where jourlists come together, share their opinions and chalk out their future course of life; therefore, he asserted that ‘these platforms’ should be utilized for the good for building the society and the tion and not otherwise. Earlier, iugurating the open session of the closing ceremony of the silver jubilee celebrations of SPC, ONGC Assam Asset’s Executive Director SD Maske called on the media fraternity to come together for a common cause of development and growth for the people and tion. “The media has a very important role to play in tion building and economic development of a country by way of constructive and developmental jourlism, Maske said.
