Speaker allows NC against him

SHILLONG, March 11: Meghalaya Assembly Speaker AT Mondal today admitted the no-confidence motion brought by the opposition against him.

Soon after the Question Hour on Wednesday, Mondal informed the house that he had received the resolution for no-confidence against him signed by James K Sangma of the NPP, independent legislator, from Tura South John Leslee K Sangma, UDP’s Jemino Mawthoh and Witting Mawsor of the HSPDP. Mondal said that though the letter for moving the no-confidence motion against him does not mention any charges he however said that he would allow it. “I do not want to reject it on the ground of technicality and I have allowed for moving of the no-confidence,” the Speaker said. The no-confidence will be taken up on March 25, the fil day of the budget session.
