GAON, April 1: BJP MP Rajen Gohain and organizations like Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Parishad (AJYP) and Jatia Yaikya Mancha have lauded Speaker Prab Kumar Gogoi for his uncompromised initiative on the definition of Assamese based on NRC, 1951and praised his ‘courageous’ step in the Assembly on Tuesday.

MP Gohain on Wednesday said that Speaker Gogoi had played an unbelievable role in the State Assembly to provide full-fledged protection and security to the Assamese indigenous people.  “We welcome his move and expect that on the basis of his proposal, the State Government will take steps to implement this definition so that indigenous Assamese people can get constitutiol protection and security.” The MP warned the Congress-led State Government not to play their “dirty politics” in connection with the Assamese definition. He thanked the Speaker for his courageous step and said that it was an appropriate approach. “Significantly, the people of Assam have seen and assumed the ture and interest of both Congress and AIUDF towards Assam and indigenous people right after the Speaker’s approach for Assamese definition in the State Assembly on Tuesday,” he said.

On the other hand, State adviser of AJYP, Kak Hazarika and State president of AJYP, Gupi Das also criticized the role that congress and  AIUDF had played in the Assembly after the Speaker pressed his proposal for an acceptable Assamese definition in the Assembly. They appreciated the Speaker and demanded to ensure the acceptance of the definition so that the indigenous people of the State could be assured of constitutiol safeguard.

Prabin Das and Brajen Kakati of Jatia Yaikya Mancha also demanded the same and praised Prab Kumar Gogoi for his initiative in the Assembly.
