Specially abled meets ALA Speaker

GUWAHATI, June 23: A team of Pratibandhi Aikyamancha, Asom led by its president Paresh Sarania today met Assam Legislative Assembly (ALA) Speaker Ranjit Das with some demands including setting up of a separate directorate for disabled persons, establishment of a development councils and filling up of the backlog vacancies.  “The new Chief Minster has goodwill with us and he desired to establish a separate directorate for the disabled persons. And the former Chief Minister had declared to establish a development council for the disabled. So we want the new government to implement these without any delay,” said Aikyamancha president Paresh Sarania. He said that the Aikyamancha also wanted 3 per cent reservation in the Assam Legislative Assembly.  “We also want filling up of backlog vacancies of the disabled,” Sarania said. Talking to reporters after the meeting, ALA speaker Das said, “I will urge the respective departments to fill up the backlog vacancies at the earliest. I will also call upon the Chief Minister to fulfill the demands of the Aikyamcha.”
