Speed limiting device

Shillong, April 20: In exercise of the power conferred by Rule, 118 of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 and in compliance with the direction of the Supreme Court vide its order dated 18.08.2011 in SLP (Civil) No 17135/2008 and notification of the Government of India, Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, New Delhi vide GSR No 290(E), dated 15.04.2015 which has mandated fitment of Speed Governor (Speed Limiting Device) in certain categories of the transport vehicles, the State Government has informed all concerned that potential dealers should seek the department’s approval for marketing the Speed Limiting Device that conform to the approval specifications of the Government of India. This was informed by the Commissioner of Transport, Meghalaya, Shillong in a communiqué.
