Spicejet operates 16 all-women crew flights across India and global routes

New Delhi, March 8: On the occasion of Intertiol Women’s Day on Sunday, budget carrier SpiceJet said it was operating 16 all-women crew flights across India and on its intertiol routes. “The first such all-women crew Bombardier Q400 flight, SG 1, took-off from Cheni at 0040 hours bound for Colombo, under the command of Captain Aarti Pushpala, cabin crew-in-charge Sheeba Singh, and their all-woman crew,” the airlines announced in a release here. The morning shift of SpiceJet’s Flight Support Centre, the operatiol nerve centre of the airline, was also handled by an all-women team led by Aditi Chauhan,” it added. In another unique initiative, the airline also handed over its official twitter handle to four of its selected women staff. This is an all-day live interactive chat session answering questions about women in aviation. Meanwhile, global diagnostics chain SRL Diagnostics also honoured five exceptiol women from the tiol capital “who despite all odds in their lives have emerged winners and are a role model for many”. The five women were honoured with high-end cervical cancer screening and a lifetime offer of SRLs premium health screening package, the company said. Those honoured are Sonia Choudhary, an acid attack survivor; Anji Rajagopalan, a social philanthropist; An Marie Lopes, a domestic violence survivor; Omkari, a cab driver and Rajni Bhagat Arora, a cancer survivor.
