A CORRESPONDENT

SHILLONG, March 16: Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma today said that the spirit of allegiance amongst members of regiol parties especially in the KHADC is not there resulting in political instability. Speaking to reporters here today, Dr Sangma said that defection is more in the KHADC than the other autonomous district councils (ADCs), GHADC and JHADC.  “It (defection) is more in KHADC. Therefore what can be interpreted is that the spirit of allegiance to their parties is wanting among the regiol parties,” the Chief Minister said. He said that the MDCs went to the people based on their political allegiance. When asked that there were accusations that the Congress were behind the rumblings in the KHADC, Dr Sangma retorted, “They should put their own house in order first and then talk about others.”  Dr Sangma pointed out to the fact that in the last one year the KHADC has already seen two CEMs and there are talks that the present CEM will also resign to pave way for another. The Chief Minister said that political instability has been part and parcel of Meghalaya political. Dr Sangma pointed out that political stability is crucial whether be it in Assembly or the district council.
