Sreejith Thiraviam is new Darrang SP

MANGALDAI, Feb 7: Sreejith Thiraviam , an Assam cadre officer of the Indian Police Service of 2012 batch, on Tuesday took over as the 23rd Superintendent of Police in Darrang district.  He took over the charge from officiating Superintendent of Police Suman Chakravorty.

The post of the Superintendent of Police in Darrang was lying vacant following the transfer of Sunil Kumar since January 29.  Sreejith Thiraviam, while serving in Kokrajhar district as Additiol Superintendent of Police, few days back was posted on promotion as the Superintendent of Police in Anti-Corruption and Vigilance wing of Assam Police, but the Home department vide a notification issued by Additiol Secretary Pradip Kumar Bhagawati on February 6, made a modification and transferred him as the Superintendent of Police. During his tenure in Kokrajhar district, Sreejith Thiraviam was conferred gallantry award for his extraordiry service while tackling insurgency.

Talking to The Sentinel at his office chamber this afternoon immediately after charge, Sreejith Thiraviam assured to make the police administration a transparent one with people-friendly attitude. At the same time, he made it clear to take a tough stand against anti-social elements and crimils and sought cooperation from all the conscious citizens of the district. He also expressed his willingness to organize a regular career counseling programme in the district to shape and mould talented students ready to appear for the all-India competitive examition.
