Sri Lanka, Pakistan sign six MoUs to enhance cooperation

Islamabad, April 6:  Pakistan Prime Minister waz Sharif and visiting Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirise on Monday announced the signing of six memorandums of understanding (MoUs) between the two countries. Sirise arrived in Islamabad on Sunday at the invitation of President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Sharif. This is his first visit to Pakistan. Sharif said both the countries signed six agreements to enhance cooperation in the fields of sports, shipping, tourism, economic development, anti-rcotics, defence and disaster magement, Radio Pakistan reported. He said these agreements will pave the way for expanding bilateral ties further. Moreover, an agreement signed between the two countries is expected to enhance bilateral trade to $1 billion per annum. Sirise welcomed Pakistani investment in his country and also urged Pakistan Intertiol Airlines to recommence flights to Sri Lanka.  (IANS)
