Srimanta Sankardeva Art Award conferred to Dr rayan Chandra Goswami

GAON, February 9: gaon Bhao Samaroh Udjapon Samitee on Tuesday conferred the Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva Art Award to Vaishvite scholar and the Xatradhikar of Kamalabari Xatra in Majuli, Dr rayan Chandra Goswami at a function held at the premise of the Bhao Samaroh at gaon Nehrubali field.

The award carries a memento, cash amounting to around Rs 50,000 along with other items. The award was conferred by the president and the executive president of the Bhao Samaroh,  Tilak Chandra Mazumder and MLA Dr Durlav Chamua respectively. Receiving the award, Dr Goswami said, “It is the greatest award that I have received in my life.” He further said that the creations of many great men in the world were not found in written form, yet the creation of Srimanta Sankardeva was available in written format. He said that in the social life of Assam, the great contribution of Srimanta Sankardeva could not be challenged.

Popular essayist and litterateur Ismail Hussain was the chief guest of the function.
