SSA District Mission Coordinator's office inaugurated

Donkamukam, May 5: "I want our teachers to give a strong foundation to children from elementary level onwards," said Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) CEM Tuliram Ronghang at a programme after inaugurating the new office of the District Mission Coordinator of Sarba Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) for West Karbi Anglong at Donkamukam on Saturday.
He also said that soon Sarba Shiksha Abhijan (SSA) would be christened as Samagra Shiksa Abhiyan by amalgamating RMSA and SSA. The CEM also assured to build the permanent office of SSA at Hamren soon. He regretted the shortage of teachers in the districts and assured that special TET would be conducted soon to fill up over 3,000 vacant posts.
"Desks and benches will supplied to schools where there is shortage," he added.
Local MLA of 20th Boithalangso LAC, Dr Mansing Rongpi regretted that government employees were sending their children to private schools instead of government schools.
In the programme, tricycles and crutches were also distributed to selected physically challenge students.
Later in the afternoon, the CEM, accompanied by his colleagues, inaugurated the Veterinary Hospital and officers' quarter both at Donkamukam, then the Mugasong market shed, and the statue of eminent freedom fighter Swahid Major Durga Malla at Mugasong.
