SSB organizes farmers' camp

Gossaigaon, March 31: Kokrajhar Area SSB organized two farmers’ workshops at Raimo under PS Gossaigaon and Dadgiri under PS Runikhata in district Kokrajhar and Chirang respectively on Tuesday. Around 50 farmers from 10 villages participated in the one-day workshop. Scientist Gautam Bhagwati, KVK Gossaigaon imparted training on organic farming vis-à-vis how to avoid use of insecticides and pesticides which are becoming lethal for humans. He also imparted lecture on the methods of paddy cultivation and how to get the best consumer-friendly paddy crops in the climatic conditions of the Northeast. Amit Kumar, Deputy Inspector General SSB SHQ Kokrajhar, attended the workshop and distributed the FALCON tool kits and high quality seeds to the participants. In his address, he emphasized that the SSB was still following the motto of ‘Service Security and Brotherhood’ since 1963 when it was initially inducted in Assam. Commandant 31st Bn. and 40th Bn. Gossaigaon were also present on the occasion. Dr Abir Choudhury, Dy Commandant (Med) 31st BN distributed free medical aid and medicines to 104 patients. In addition 32 cattle were also examined and treated.
