Guwahati, March 9: Star Cement yesterday observed the “Intertiol Women’s Day” (IWD) here in its plant periphery of Guwahati Grinding Unit with great enthusiasm and fervour. The Event was marked under the United tions theme for this year “Empowering Women. Empowering Humanity. Think of It!”
Dr. Rinkumoni Bhuyan, CHC-Khetri, Women Health & Sanitation; Shanti Chetry, President, Anchalik Panchayat, Dimoria; Dr. A.C. Borgohain, Regiol Mager, New India Assurance; Madhavi Rahang, President, Sopur Gaon Panchayat and Bapukan Choudhary, Forensic & Crime Against Women Expert joined the occasion.
Commenting on the occasion, Jyoti Swaroop Agarwal, President, Star Cement, described women’s status as most revered and respected in the society, saying that a woman is a mother, a sister, a wife and a daughter and every relation is wonderful and makes the society most beautiful. Agarwal said that Star Cement acknowledges the vital role of women in its business and is committed to gender equality.
“We strive to provide opportunities for women across the business to advance and grow their careers in a supportive environment”, Agarwal added. Earlier, Highlighting the need to empower women speakers stated that in India, women are worshipped, revered, and are held in high esteem, however at the same time women go through various complex issues which need to be addressed in the right perspective.
