State government wants to ensure green revolution: Gogoi

GUWAHATI, July 1: Stressing on the need to ensure ecological balance and economic development, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Wednesday, said that his government will soon take step for plantation of trees to ensure green revolution in the state.

Iugurating the 66th Van Mahotsav at Sarusajai Indoor Stadium on the parleys of Chief Ministers Nirmal Assam, the Chief Minister stressed on the need of conservation as well as plantation. “If we want to live, if we want the animals to live, we will have to ensure that the plants too coexist. By only planting tree we cannot bring a revolution, we need to conserve them too,” said Gogoi.

“We get various medicines and fruits from the trees, so the state government will bring all the people together in order to ensure a successful plantation drive,” he added.

Applauding the efforts of Forest Man of Assam Jadav Payeng, the chief minister said that time has come to impart practical knowledge to the people of the state to ensure a safe and secure future of the state.

Speaking on the occasion the Forest Man, Jadav Payeng recalled how he established a chord with ture.

The programme was also attended by forest minister Atuwa Munda, MLA Robin Bordoloi, GMDA Chairman Dhiren Baruah, Mayor Abir Patro, Additiol Chief Secretary to the CM MGVK Bhanu, Chief Conservator of Forests D Mathur, Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup Metro and many other dignitaries.

Earlier on the day, the Chief Minister planted saplings in the stadium premises and also distributed the same to students who came to participate in the event.
